As I was researching for this article, that I stumbled on an another blog where the writer was talking about how Google wants to enter the automobile business. Imagine that Google entering the automotive industry. Having thunk that up. Although, the writer explained that Google is in partnership with other companies to create a car that leads itself.

You cannot blame Google for wanting to diversify, I guess. Of course, GPS has come to me when I thought of this approach. Indeed, I have later read in a long article, where a patent was filed with the US Government in July 2001, for an additional step for how GPS would be used in our cars.

So far this has not happened yet. But the patent was approved in April 2009. As far as I know, I am one of very few who spoke or wrote on the internet. Thus, you get enough fresh things in people in this article. Now, how they plan to use the GPS and how they will use what is already done?

Without quote word for Word patent, I put in my own words as I usually like to write anyway. The patent itself is that a very long read if you get my drift.

The summary:

What they want to do is to say in your car, truck or van, where you have multiple devices such as a DVD player, radar detector, and a cell phone, they want to create a system of automatic notification using GPS for these devices.

The why:

Because in some States, your conduct you are not permitted by law to operate your Radar Detector. Some States DVD player while driving. And now there are laws in some States you cannot use your cell phone without a hands-free device connected. New laws to prevent people from texts while driving.

How to:

In your GPS unit, in your car, will be an option to enter the data to each of your devices you have. For example, for each of the devices mentioned, you would simply enter the number of series of devices or make and model of the device.

This is called registration. After you have all your devices registered in the GPS software, the unit will be from there. Built in the software system GPS will be a hierarchical list of Information competence of each State. Regarding the use of these devices on highways and roads.

For example, I believe in the State of Maryland, your not authorized to operate a Radar Detector. So when you crossed the lines of State of the State, and you had your detector in your software of GPS units, it would result in an alert tone and a message on the GPS screen.

As “Please turn off your Radar Detector, you are not allowed to drive in this State.” The same for all other devices in your vehicle.

The Conclusion:

This technology could even be taken a step further. As the capacity of your GPS automatically stop your device and you provide information to the State of your conduct. It’s amazing what the mind can dream isn’t!

I think it is a very useful invention that the Patenters have come up with. Very innovative. You must purchase a new GPS to use this technology? I do not think. I think that it would be just as when you update your GPS with maps.

You may have to pay for it, but you would simply download the software to your unit. And then simply register or enter device information in the GPS and your fact. Pretty cool stuff.
